Using Your Benefits: What You Need To Know

If you are using benefits for the first time, please review the Certification Process Steps on our Hazlewood, VA Benefits or VR&E webpages to learn how to apply and what documents to submit. If you are a continuing student, you can also find any required documents and next steps on those same pages.

Important reminders:

  • VA Benefits: Must be renewed each term by submitting a Certification Request form.
  • Hazlewood: If you have used Hazlewood within the last 3 terms, your benefit will be automatically renewed.
  • VR&E: Be sure you have an active and accurate authorization or purchase order. on file
  • First-time students: Please follow the steps on your benefit page to ensure your benefits are processed on time.

Priority Deadlines for Processing Benefits

Documents must be accurate and submitted by the deadline. We cannot guarantee that GI Bill® certification requests and Hazlewood exemption requests submitted after these dates will be processed by the first day of the semester, although we will continue to accept these documents until the end of the respective term.

Summer – April 15 Fall – July 15 Spring – November 28
